Wolbachia

Life is crazy awesome, marvels hidden all around waiting to be discovered. How fascinating it is to find out that a microorganism residing in flies and insects can fend off other viruses from the host and it can even alter reproductive success of the host species in a way that is beneficial for it to thrive. That microorganism is a bacteria called Wolbachia. Now this little fella could be a potential weapon against the Zika outbreak, here is the NY Times article by awesome science reporter Carl Zimmer.
